Chesterfield College Fashion Show Evaluation

Fashion Show Evaluation

On Tuesday the 25th of June we attended the college Fashion Show. This was a show where the fashion and textiles students wore and showed off the unique patterns and clothes designs that they have made for what I assume was the final project of their courses.
The show was roughly about 45 mins long and showed off a lot of different styles of clothing in that time. There were elements from the 50’s, 60’s, 80’s and even work that was designed around the artists image of the future.
The show itself wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and in fact some of the clothes that had been made looked fairly good, although a very high percentage of the work was designed for females which may have been the reason some of the work looked very similar. It feels like there wasn’t a wide enough range on the things that they had, which was one of the major negative points about the whole event.
Probably the main things that ruined the show was the fact that the models had clearly chosen the song choices due to the fact that  some of them did not fit the theme of the show. Strutting down a catwalk wearing 50’s styled dresses to a modern day pop song just seems a bit odd to me.
All in all the show was not too bad, and apart from the couple of negatives I listed it was enjoyable. The parts that didn’t have any faults were surprisingly good and a lot of the clothes looked neat and very professional although I did not understand why some of the clothes were so ‘unique’.
I can’t see myself attending another in future although that may not have been solely down to this show.
